The AITP originally started out as the NMAA in 1951, later evolving into the DPMA, and then into our
current evolution in 1996 of the Association of Information Technology Professionals. The association
has kept pace with the changing needs and interests of its members, which span every level of the IT
industry from mainframe systems, to virtual systems and the internet. Its members are found in every
facet of society as well. They're in colleges and universities; banking; industry; retail; the armed forces;
local, state and federal governments; hospitals; etc. The AITP offers a wide variety of benefits to its
members including technical education, professional development, financial, legal and employment services,
as well as discounts on various products and services.
The Greater Evansville Chapter of the AITP is one of the oldest around. Unfortunately, as members came and left, the Chapter began to dwindle down, eventually becoming dormant. Luckily, one of the previous members came in contact with some recently graduated student members, and they conspired to start the Greater Evansville Chapter back up. With the help and guidence of Ernie Nolan, head of the Univ. of Southern Indiana Student Chapter, we are up and running once again.
